During the interview process for Jill Stuart, I was tasked to “create a collection where you are the creative director and can create a collection with no restrictions.” Here, I tried to emulate the historical references and bold, colorful prints featured in the Jill Stuart collection.

With this in mind, I focused my research in styles of the 1920s, including vintage Lanvin, whose early work was new to me. In contrast, I also looked at prints from the 70s and 80s, and combined print styles from the various eras, using a color story derived from 1920s Matisse paintings.
